Match Preview

Ninety XI/June 16, 2026

After a disappointing 1-1 draw with Inter Milan on UCL Match Day 1, Manchester City were in no mood for another European outing without maximum points. They picked Slovan Bratislava apart in a 4-0 win on Tuesday night and moved into 8th place on the UCL league phase table. The Sky Blues will be looking to take their ruthless form back to the Premier League when they face Fulham at the weekend, after last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United. The disappointing draw was the sole culprit, as City lost their place at the top of the table to Liverpool. Pep’s side are one point adrift of the Reds, having earned 14 points in total [4W, 2D, 0L]. A weekend clash against Fulham in the final game before the international break couldn't have come at a better time, with Manchester City looking to go into the break with a win. City have won each of their last 16 meetings with Fulham in all competitions and will be looking to go 17 games without defeat against the Cottagers this weekend. It is the longest winning run one English league side has had against another in history. A 3—4—2—1 with Erling Haaland, who was on target in the 4-0 dismantling of Bratislava in attack, may be seen once again. Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne [groin injury] is in doubt for this fixture.

Meanwhile, after a slow start to the season, Fulham appear to be finding their feet. The Cottagers picked up back-to-back victories [WDDWW] for the first time this season after last weekend’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. The victory follows a 3-1 win over Newcastle. The Cottagers now have 11 points [3W, 2D, 1L], while in 6th place on the Premier League table. With fresher legs, having played no part in the midweek round of fixtures, an unlikely win over City could see Fulham climb a few places up the table. However, Fulham are winless in their last 18 games away to Manchester City in the league [0W, 3D, 15L], losing each of the last 13 in a row. Marco Silva, who was nominated for the 'Manager of the Month Award' alongside five others, including Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery, and Enzo Maresca, could deploy a 4—2—3—1 with Raúl Jiménez in attack. Jiménez has scored in three successive PL games and could do so for a fourth time after being nominated for the Player of the Month Award.

After a comfortable 4-0 win in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, the Sky Blues will play host to Fulham as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Manchester City vs. Fulham begins at 15:00 [GMT+1] on Saturday, October 5, at the Etihad.
